Discover yourself through art

This month's edition of Panoram Italia Magazine, features an in-depth and personal article about the passionate and accomplished painter and artist Lucia Paterra Catania, President of the Golden Age Academy.

In the article, as in the above interview, Paterra talks about her inspiration behind her art creations and her personal evolution as an artist over the years. She explains how her journey as an artist began more prominently 16 years ago when she was forced to face the difficult reality of a divorce. For Paterra, making art "was a healing process" and helped her to "let go and live in the moment" and "embrace what life sends your way". Inspired by the works of the Group of Seven, Canadian wildlife artist Kelly McNeil, early 20th Century Canadian artist John Currin and the writings of Virginia Woolf, Paterra spends much of her days exploring the artist in her and filling the walls of her modest home with her creations.

The themes and subjects for her paintings include: gender issues, women's experiences, religion and spirituality, family, animals and Canadian and Italian landscapes. There is no stopping this inspirational and innovative Ital-Canadian artist. To see her paintings, visit the GAA's next art exhibit and get to know Paterra a brushstroke at a time!

The Golden Age Academy is proud to celebrate Paterra's accomplishments and shares their love for her with you.
